Weight:
Males - 125 to 225 pounds
Females - 65 to 115 pounds

Fallow Deer come in a variety of colors such as black, white, spotted and chocolate brown. They have been bred so long in captivity that they are almost a domesticated species. The mature bucks have a beautiful palmated set of antlers, which has a webbed surface similar to the moose and may measure 4 to 10 inches in width. During the fall rutting season, the bucks utter a deep burping grunt, which can be heard for a considerable distance and is a challenge of other bucks.

During the breeding season, the buck eats very little, living off the stored fat in his body. Fallow deer have very acute senses of sight, smell and hearing. The Natural Bridge Zoo has been raising Fallow deer at this location for over 32 years and ha supplied over 200 deer to other zoological parks.
