East African Crowned Crane (Regulorum Gibbericeps)


 

Type: Bird Range: Africa Diet: Omnivore Height: 35 - 38 inches Weight: 4 - 7 lbs.

Cranes pair for life and courtship consists of dance-like motions that include behaviours such as bowing, jumping, running, stick or grass tossing and wing flapping. Both parents participate in the incubation process. The chicks can run as soon as they hatch.
Fun Fact: East African or Grey Crowned Cranes are non-migratory and are the only crane to perch in trees.
