White Naped Crane
WHITE NAPED CRANE (grus vipio)
White Naped Crane, this rare crane numbers about 5,000 in the wild and nests in northeastern Mongolia and northeastern China.
White Naped Crane feed mainly on seeds, tubers and Vertebrates. Two eggs are incubated on an elevated nest of aquatic vegetation in a wetland area.
Their wintering grounds in the demilitarized zone between the two Koreas makes them very vulnerable.
Like all other cranes, human interference and habitat destruction is causing their decrease in numbers.
